The following is a list of resources for additional information on GPS
and GPS applications.
- CHAMP
CHAMP (CHAllenging Minisatellite Payload) is a German small satellite
mission for geoscientific and atmospheric research and applications,
managed by GFZ.
- COSMIC Homepage
COSMIC is the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate, a joint U.S.-Taiwan project.
- Earth Scope PBO
PBO is a geodetic observatory designed to study the three-dimensional strain field resulting from plate boundary deformation.
- GENESIS
GENESIS (GPS Environmental & Earth Science Information System) is a suite of data services that brings together the new Earth science products generated by spaceborne Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers on a diversity of new US and international missions.
- GPS World
Founded in 1989, GPS World is the first and only international monthly
journal that features news and applications of the GPS, GLONASS, and
related technologies.
- IGS -- International GPS Service
The U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS) constellation of satellites plays a major role in regional and global studies of Earth. In the face of continued growth and diversification of GPS applications, the worldwide scientific community has made an effort to promote international standards for GPS data acquisition and analysis, and to deploy and operate a common, comprehensive global tracking system.
- SCIGN
SCIGN is an array of Global Positioning System (GPS) stations distributed throughout
southern California with emphasis on the greater Los Angeles metropolitan region.
- Time Service Department, U.S. Naval Observatory
The U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) monitors GPS timing to provide a reliable
and stable coordinated time reference for the satellite navigation system.
This site includes information on GPS timing as well as GPS time data
files.
- U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center
The U.S. Coast Guard has developed an augmentation to GPS called Differential
GPS (DGPS), which provides users with more accurate GPS position information.
The USCG Navigation Center operates the maritime DGPS service, which
includes two control centers and more than 50 remote broadcast sites.
